Stanley Bruce Tanner, Jr. 'Mike', age 64 of Oconomowoc, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Dina (nee Vasil), children Stanley (Pam) Tanner III and Rebecca (Travis) Wiedenhoeft, grandchildren Mary Ann Eagen, Nadine and Wyatt Tanner and Connor and Oliver Wiedenhoeft, sisters Sherry (Nephi) Cardejon and Laurie DaFonte, sister-in-law LeeAnn Pusatera, step-mother Bettye Tanner, aunts Mary Jean Braddock and Nadine Casey, along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by mother Claudine 'Sunnie' (nee Williams) and father Stanley Bruce Tanner, along with brother-in-law Kevin DaFonte. Visitation for Mike will be on Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 210 E. Pleasant Ave in Oconomowoc from 6:30 until 8:30 PM. An additional visitation will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Service will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday. The family would like to invite everyone to join them for a light luncheon following the service. Mike will be laid to rest at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Cemetery in Union Grove on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Paul's Organ Fund or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1972, and served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter door gunner from 1969-1971. He earned 15 Presidential Air Medals and many other medals of honor. Following his service he worked as a regional manager for 3M Company and Ricoh from 1972 until 1986 and then chose to become a fulltime homemaker until the children were grown. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old movies and taking care of his children and grandchildren. Mike was very loyal, strong, never complained and had a great sense of humor.
