Stephen Frank Mammano

Stephen Frank Mammano of Hartland, Wisconsin passed away on February 20, 2023 at age 63. Stephen (Steve) was born August 4, 1959 in New York to Frank and Genevieve (Zittel) Mammano. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice (nee Thimmel); daughters: Genevieve (Joseph) Murphy and Stephanie (Ramiro) Vasco; four grandchildren: Emily and Ethan Vasco, Michael and Joseph Murphy, and had a fifth grandchild on the way. Steve is further survived by his fur-babies: Fritz, Murphy, Stella, and Asta. He is preceded in death by his son, Neal Palumbo, and both his parents.

Steve was hardworking, devoted, and loving to family and friends. He graduated from St. Johns University with a degree in Accounting. He was determined and strong, which is how he survived cancer 22 years ago. Tired of the hustle and bustle of New York, Steve and Janice relocated to Wisconsin seven years ago to be closer to family. He loved numbers and worked at Bryant Products in Ixonia in Finance and HR.

For a self-pronounced non-dog person, Steve quickly became a dog person upon meeting Janice, and could be found taking naps with one or all of their beloved pets snuggling next to him. He also kept a bag of treats in his desk to give to dogs that would visit the office. He enjoyed walks on the beach, but only if he were wearing tennis shoes and socks. Steve was a firm believer in dessert first and last, well actually, dessert always, and vegetables never. A stressful day at the office could be soothed with a pint of ice cream and a Lipton Brisk Lemon Iced Tea. Steve loved trains, NASCAR, the New York Giants, and the New York Mets, even though they have only won two World Series.

There will be a visitation at Pagenkopf Funeral Home (NEW LOCATION: 2228 N. Silver Maple Lane, Oconomowoc, WI 53066) on March 1, 2023 from 4 – 6 pm with a service and dinner to follow.
