Lauderdale, FL, and beloved grandchildren Lauren, 26, and Allison, 22; siblings Mary (Terry) Leaman of Oconomowoc, WI, Barbara Pinter of Tucson, AZ, and Jim (Kathy) Pinter of Chippewa Falls, WI. Tom is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert (Kathryn) Schilz, of Cleveland, OH, sister-in-law Mary Schilz-of Kenosha, WI; godchildren Laura Schilz, Joe Chromy, Tom McCord Jr., and Jennifer Skeloskey; as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents; goddaughter, Karen Taschler; his “favorite” mother-in-law Helen Schilz; and brother-in-law, James Schilz. Tom taught at Oconomowoc High School for 37 years. Twice named “Teacher of the Year”, He taught speech and TV and video production. Tom and his students created the first video yearbook in the state of Wisconsin. He loved his students. He was very proud of what he and the students had accomplished in video production over the years. Tom also loved animals, and adopted many cats over the years. He enjoyed playing sheepshead, fishing, and bike riding. As a Christian, Tom’s gentle Christ-centered leadership and genuine concern was experienced by many. As a man of God he was very caring and put Christ in the middle of all of his relationships (except Sheepshead). He and Carol both taught adolescent and adult classes at St. Jerome, adult education classes at St. Bruno’s, were active in Milwaukee Marriage Encounter, and were on the staff of UCC Family Camp at Moon Beach for nearly 10 years. He lectured at St Jerome’s for nearly 50 years, served as parish council president for several terms, and brought communion to people in nursing homes and hospitals. He led the prayer service at Living Waters for over 20 years and the Catholic prayer service at Shorehaven monthly for the last 10 years. Tom was especially proud of his family. He loved spending time fishing, playing cribbage and biking with his son, teaching his granddaughters Lauren & Alli to fish, play cards and play practical jokes with them. His many grand nieces, nephews, and godchildren will treasure the memories of swimming, fishing, frogging, and laughing at the Pinter pier on Middle Genesee Lake. He loved making family videos of birthdays, anniversaries, First Communions, confirmations, weddings, graduations, funerals, and many other family celebrations. In the words of his wife Carol, “Tom was the most loving, caring, and fun person in my life “. Services for Tom will be held on October 26, 2019 at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church (995 S. Silver Lake St. Oconomowoc, WI 53066). Visitation will take place from 9:00am until start of Mass at 11:00am. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Angels Grace Hospice, Shorehaven, and AT YOUR SERVICE. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tom’s name to St. Bruno’s Catholic Church, St. Catherine of Alexandria, St. Jerome Parish, or Angels Grace Hospice would be appreciated.
