Timothy Aaron Pangborn

Timothy A. Pangborn, also known as "Kicker" in the racing community, and "Coach" to his grandkids, age 71, of Oconomowoc, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021, with his wife by his side. He was born February 11, 1950 in Milwaukee to Stafford and Viola Pangborn. He is preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Patrick, Michael, and DeWitt Pangborn. As the youngest of the four brothers, he tagged along on many adventures and one of his happiest is making the largest cotton candy cones during the Milwaukee festivals in his family's popcorn wagons. "Love is patient, love is kind." Tim met his wife, Janet Arkens, in high school back in 1967 and married in 1973 celebrating 48 years of marriage. Early on in their marriage, Tim and Janet traveled the country together following Tim's races. All that changed with the arrival of his pride and joy - the blessings of three children - Jennifer (Michael Dolde) Pangborn, Michael (Jessica) Pangborn, and Tom (Kelsey) Pangborn. He loved being Coach (grandpa) to Mason, Joey, Brody, Billy, Zoey, Adelyn, Timmy, and Graham. He was a midget race car driver for Badger Midget and USAC; he loved duck hunting in North Dakota; when played cards it was always deer camp poker (only 5 card draw with the occasional wild of one eyed jacks!), and Tim always was learning about World War II history as his father Stafford served in the Navy. He was most proud of being involved with his children's lives coaching sports and committed to their activities. Tim was a role model for supporting and encouraging his kids, and later in their lives, he was known to ALWAYS be just a "phone call away." Tim is best known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, and he was a teller of numerous life stories which he willingly shared.. Among many pieces of wisdom he repeated throughout his years, these are our favorite Dad-isms: • Keep your head on a swivel. • We don't hate anything but the Chicago Bears. • Not by the fireplace! • Did you check the tire pressure? In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of his grandson Joseph Dugan, in Tim's memory, would be appreciated. Other memorials may be directed to the family . Tim will be honored at a private celebration of life, where he will be toasted with his favorite, blackberry brandy.
