William (Bill) Anthony Kadlec, 61, passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2024, at home in Sun Prairie, WI. Preceded in death by his parents, William J Kadlec and Sylvia A (Nowicki) Kadlec and sister-in-law Shelley A (Swenson) Kadlec. Survived by brother, Joseph W Kadlec and sister, Karla M (Kadlec) Sterwald (Brian); Nephews Shawn Overby(Alicia), Jeremiah Overby, Benjamin Sterwald (Keri), James Zachary Kadlec (Jen), Weston Sterwald (Annaliese), grand nieces and nephews. Along with other family and friends.
Bill was born on May 16, 1963, in Springfield, IL to William Joseph Kadlec (5/38-1/2000) and Sylivia Ann (Nowicki) Kadlec (2/39-6/2018). Bill attended the St Joseph Catholic grade school until 6th grade in Illinois, then moved to Glenwood, MN and attended Glenwood schools through 9th grade moving to Oconomowoc WI to start his sophomore year of high school and graduating from Oconomowoc High School in 1981. He then attended University of Madison majoring in Computer Engineering. He did not graduate from college even though he was only a few credits short. Bill had paper routes in IL and MN, worked at Pizza Hut during high school and had summer jobs during college. His last job during college was with LA Darling, aka Famous Fixtures, where he ended up working full time and then was promoted to Network Administrator. He enjoyed his job until the company moved to Arkansas, but Bill did not want to move. In 2006, he got a job with a good friend at Blue Moon Solutions, LLC installing Point of Sale software and hardware for the Hospitality Industry. He travelled to different states and countries installing equipment. Then his recent years, he worked from home supporting the software until his recent unexpected passing.
Bill was athletic and played baseball, football, and basketball in his youth. He also had the memory of an elephant and could always remember things that happened in the past with detail. He was quick to learn and breezed through school with little effort and graduated top in his class. Bill was good at trivia and had a quick, dry wit usually coupled with an appropriate movie quote for the situation. He enjoyed time with family and friends. He always came home or travelled to family out of state to spend time with family for holidays. He loved to golf but health issues, starting with back surgery, then knee pain led to him to lead a solitary life of difficulty in getting around. He had knee replacement surgery in 2022, and things started looking positive. Through all of this, Bill had a positive outlook on life no matter the situation. However, Bill was not one to share his thoughts or feelings easily. But he had a big heart and was known for looking out for and helping others, both with friends, family, and professional life. His coworkers will remember him as someone who was always there to help when needed. His methodological work process was a bonus when troubleshooting complex technical issues. To his friends, Bill Kadlec had many names, all used with affection…Kaddy, Kadillac, and The King. Bill was also known to be a great hugger, squeezing hard and holding on for a long time. Bill will be missed as we will hold on to his memory for a long time.
We may never realize the value of a moment until it becomes a memory! Bill left us too soon, but he also left us many wonderful memories that we can all cherish. Bill mattered and he will be missed throughout our lives, he will remain in our hearts, for he is a part of us. Until we are together again. Love you, Bill!
